Mariners Unlikely To Extend Kendrys Morales

Oct 16, 2014 6:52 AM

While the Seattle Mariners have been interested in signing him to an extension, Kendrys Morales appears headed for free agency this winter.

The Mariners contacted Scott Boras shortly before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline about an extension, but the call never led to serious negotiations. Morales is all but certain to become a free agent.

Morales had told people he was interested in remaining with Seattle long-term, but the Mariners balked at the numbers floated about.

Yankees Already Hoping To Re-Sign Kuroda

Oct 19, 2014 6:01 PM

The New York Yankees have increased Hiroki Kuroda's salary in each of the last two seasons.

After another highly productive season, will New York have to give Kuroda a one-year, $20 million deal to re-sign him?

A Yankees official said they'll need to do whatever they can to make that happen. The 39-year-old will likely be the best starter on the market.

Dodgers 'Absolutely' Interested In Extending Ramirez

Mar 20, 2014 10:05 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers are "absolutely" interested in extending Hanley Ramirez's contract, according to controlling owner Mark Walter.

Ramirez's current contract runs through the end of the 2014 season.

"I think a guy like Hanley Ramirez, he's a special, special player," Walter said. "If you know where we could find five more, we'll take them all. I don't think there are five more."

Ramirez will earn $15.5 million this year and $16 million next year.

"Hanley's a special guy," Walter said. "He's fun in the clubhouse. He inspires other people. He hits the ball harder than anybody else."
